The Program:
We have developed
a comprehensive teacher training program that will
allow you the freedom to teach this ancient art form
to others or use the knowledge to further your own
life experiences.
The vast yoga background of our teaching staff has
come together to create this fantastic program. It
combines yogic history and its present day
relevance. Studies include asana (the detailed
deconstruction of poses), yogic philosophy, anatomy,
basic Sanskrit, pranayama and meditation.
Instruction takes place in a supportive community
where you will deepen your understanding of yoga
through reading important yogic texts and detailed,
knowledgeable instruction.
Once you begin this program, you will be asked to
make your yoga practice a part of your daily life.
Participants will read specific chapters or articles
from our reading list and answer questions that will
be used for discussion during the next month’s
meeting. Participants will spend approximately four
hours a week in study for this course in addition to
their asana practice. We request that you have at
least one year of yoga practice before participating
in our program.
Students wishing to pursue registration with Yoga
Alliance will complete the class work and all
related assignments to be eligible for graduation.
We begin a new 200 hour
program each September and February, we meet one
weekend a month these months of each year: January,
February, March, April, May, September, October, and
November. Participants have 2 years to complete all
8 weekends of training to be considered a graduate
of the program. In addition to attendance, the
homework will need to be completed to be able to
apply to Yoga Alliance for the registered yoga
teacher designation.
Each month you will
receive the chapters and articles to read before
attending the training. You will also need to
complete the necessary homework to be able to fully
participate in these discussion times.
