"What is Yoga?"

Yoga is a centuries old practice that combines breath awareness to movements in your body. Yoga students gain flexibility, increase strength and reduce tension in their body to feel great. HeartWork Studio provides the gateway to a better life through our quiet, soothing environment and our highly qualified teachers.

"Who is Doing Yoga?"
Everyone! Men and women from teens to older active adults. You don’t need to be flexible or strong, we’ll help with that.

“I have never done yoga before, do you have classes for beginners?”

Yes, we have 3 classes each week specifically for beginners. You can attend “Beginning Yoga" classes Tuesday mornings at 8:30am, or Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm and/or Saturday mornings at 10:00am.  We also have a Relaxation Yoga class on Sunday evenings at 6:30pm that works great for beginners.

“What do I wear to yoga class?”

Wear whatever is comfortable for you. You can wear loose fitting pants or shorts and a comfortable t-shirt or tank top. Layering clothing works well so you can remove extra layers as you warm up. We leave our shoes in the hallway outside of the yoga studio. It will also feel better if you remove your socks for the yoga class. You can keep your socks on until class starts if that feels better.

“Can I start classes anytime or do I have to wait for a session to start?”

You can start yoga at HeartWork Studio any time. We run on an on-going system with beginners starting every week. You can also come to any class on the schedule. You do not sign up for any one class. You just attend the class on the day and time that works best for you, even if that is different each week.

“Do I have to sign up for a membership?”

No. We do not have memberships. People just buy a punch card and work off of the punches. Each punch card is valid for 4 months from the day you buy it. You can share your punch card with anyone else in your household. Punch cards can be purchased with either 8, 12, or 16 punches. We also have an unlimited yoga option. Currently we are also offering a special for new yoga students. You can purchase an unlimited yoga punch card valid for 1 month from the day you start classes. This unlimited punch card is a special discounted rate of $40.

“When I am ready to start, how do I actually get going with the class?”

It’s easy! Just arrive 10 minutes before the class is scheduled to start. Leave your shoes in the hallway and come inside. Your teacher will be happy to show you around. We have yoga mats that you can use for your class. The other yoga students are always happy to help you find the teacher and show you where to put your things.

“Do I need to bring special equipment?”

No. If you have a yoga mat, bring it. If you don’t, you can use one of our community mats. We also have yoga blocks, eye pillows, blankets, and sand bags for anyone to use or purchase.

“Do guys (girls, older people, college students…)do yoga?

Yes. Everyone is doing yoga nowadays. We have a great variety of ages from college to active older adults and both men and women in our classes.

“I have an old injury, what do I do with that?”

Yoga is adaptable to people of all abilities. We can help you work around your injury and still get a great yoga practice.

“My doctor told me to do yoga. Which class should I start with?”

If you have been referred by a doctor, it is best to call our yoga director, Amy Etzell, to discuss your specific needs and to help you pick a class to start with. She can be reached at 507-649-0898.
